Our Mission

The Affecting Lives Foundation is a commitment by the most affluent individuals and families around the world to pledge the greater part of their resources towards charitable causes.

Created by Mackenzie Scott, Melinda French Gates and Amos Hostetter Jr. in March 2012 to tackle some of the general public’s most urgent complications, it was not until October 2012 before The Affecting Lives Foundation really took off following the involvement of over 50 of America’s wealthiest people committed to the vision of being able to make a difference in the life of the regular person on the street, irrespective of race, creed or affiliation.

Extraordinary Experiences

The Affecting Lives Foundation was originally focused on the United States,  and then it rapidly spread as philanthropists from across the globe registered their interest to be a part of it. The Affecting Lives Foundation is inspired by the virtuous examples set by millions of people at all income levels who give generously – and often at great personal sacrifice – to make the world better.
